Confirm the EU CBAM Eligibility of Your Products
The transitional phase of the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) ends on 1 January 2026, when the mechanism shifts from reporting to full financial enforcement. From this date, goods in carbon-intensive sectors such as iron and steel, aluminium, cement, and fertilisers that are imported into the EU may be financially liable for their embedded carbon emissions.
Companies still uncertain whether their goods are covered under EU CBAM, can use the EU CBAM Self-Assessment Tool, published in September 2024 and updated in March 2025. The tool is user friendly and enables companies to determine the CBAM applicability using the Customs (CN) codes of its manufactured goods and country of origin.
