ECOMETRIX TO ADVANCE CENTRAL AFRICAN GOLD’S CARBON PLAN

Central African Gold Inc. (CAGR) has engaged two internationally recognized leaders, EcoMetrix Africa and Inerjys Ventures, to advance the implementation of a carbon credit revenue stream on its land positions in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
There is a growing demand for carbon credits globally, as it is now mandatory in most countries for industries to meet reduced emission standards or face significant non-compliance penalties. Those that cannot meet the required levels, can purchase carbon credits to offset their emissions. This has spurred the development of an efficient global carbon credit marketplace, a market which EcoMetrix has extensive experience operating within.
By leveraging EcoMetrix’s carbon financing expertise to implement a carbon credit program, CAGR will complement its battery metals operations and meet important ESG requirements. It will also allow CAGR to implement “ESG as a business”, creating a secondary revenue stream, while building the local economy and mitigating carbon emissions.
Critical to success is the selection of the right carbon credit initiatives. There are three basic types of carbon credit initiatives and all three can be successfully implemented in the DRC.
Three types of carbon credit
1. Reduced emissions through efficiency.
2. Removed emissions through carbon capture.
3. Avoiding emissions by methods such as stopping de-forestation.
EcoMetrix, a sustainability consulting and carbon financing firm, is evaluating each initiative for its Carbon Credit value, environmental and social impact, and the cost/benefit analysis of its implementation. Each potential carbon credit activity’s economic and technical attractiveness, mitigation, impact and contribution to the core business activities of CAGR are also being assessed. Additionally, EcoMetrix is evaluating the various Carbon Credit standards to identify those that best serve the overall ESG strategy and have the regulatory scale to support efforts in the DRC. CAGR will be selecting carbon credit initiatives using these criteria.
Inerjys Ventures, a cleantech investment firm and green project developer, has also been engaged to structure the CAGR carbon plan and implement an operational plan.
