As part of their commitment to net-zero emissions – for themselves and for their clientele – EcoMetrix Africa is proud to announce that they have joined the local coalition of Alliances for Climate Action, the platform for decisive and collective climate action in South Africa.

“As a leading sustainability consulting firm, we support calls for accelerated industry and government ambition towards transitioning South Africa to net-zero,” says Lodewijk Nell, partner at EcoMetrix Africa.

The firm’s own ambition is evident in the work the team does, engaging with its many clients to develop net-zero emission roadmaps, facilitate mitigation plans, and enable complete and accurate emissions reporting to government and to stakeholders, using frameworks such as IRP, TCFD, ESG, CDP and others.

Looking inward, EcoMetrix Africa is on a path to becoming a net-zero company by 2023.

“We strongly believe in shifting the local economy towards being low-carbon and climate-resilient,” explains Nell. “Although our emission footprint is minor, we see importance in playing our role in making South Africa net-zero. With our transition towards net-zero, we will also publish sustainability reports reviewing our own performance.

“In addition, by joining the Alliance for Climate Action, driven by the National Business Initiative, the C40 Cities Group and the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature), we are aligning ourselves with like-minded institutions.”

Alliances for Climate Action is a global network of domestic multi-sector coalitions supporting their countries’ climate goals. The South African Alliance connects the private sector, cities, provinces, investors, research institutions and others to form “surprising alliances” to collectively achieve a net carbon neutral economy by 2050.

“We invite all companies to discover the benefits of a net carbon neutral economy and to join us in aligning with other forward-thinking institutions in demonstrating a strong commitment to net-zero,” Nell concludes.
