Reminder: GHG Reporting Deadline 31 May

Reminder: GHG Reporting Deadline 31 May | Brundtland Consulting

Now just days away, the postponed deadline of 31 May 2020 for Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reporting online via the South African Greenhouse Gas Reporting Systems (SAGERS) places many data providers under strain.

The timeous submission of correct, accurate GHG emissions data is crucial, and it is imperative that the calculations of emissions while in line with the technical guidelines published, are not overstated.

This is because the same GHG emissions reports due end May will determine the carbon tax payments due to SARS on 31 October 2020. Companies that submit a return on a carbon footprint uninformed about various choices and considerations, face a real risk of a higher tax liability.

Companies calculating and reporting GHG emissions themselves – with little understanding of the reporting process and technical guidelines – are well-advised to validate the accuracy of their activity data; the emission calculations and determine whether emissions are not overstated.

Not completely certain if your GHG Report is correct and does not overstate the emissions leading to a higher carbon tax bill? The EcoMetrix Africa team offers a Quick GHG Emissions Review taking a look at your activity data and the calculations of related emissions.
