Proposed Amendments to the Greenhouse Gas Emission Reporting Regulations

The Minister of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries gave notice on the intent to amend the National Greenhouse Emission Reporting Regulations (2017), published in the Government Gazette of 06 September 2019. The proposed amendments, apply to different sections of the regulation, however, these are some of the significant changes identified by EcoMetrix Africa’s consultants:

  • The distinction between Category A and Category B data providers has been abolished, both are now referred to as ‘data provider’.
  • Reporting shall now be done on facilities level and aggregated level
  • For some activities, Tier 1 reporting is now allowed in addition to Tier 2 and Tier 3.
