Consolidated EU ETS Directive

The EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) directive is a cornerstone of the European Union’s climate policy, regulating greenhouse gas emissions from industries such as power generation, manufacturing, and aviation. It establishes a cap on emissions, allowing companies to trade emission allowances.

The directive sets annual reduction targets, promotes low-carbon innovation, and aims to align with the EU’s climate goals. Its revisions include stricter targets, expanding the system to new sectors, and initiatives to prevent market imbalance through the Market Stability Reserve.
