Get Audit-Ready For The 31 March GHG Reporting Deadline

GHG Emissions Uptake In Carbon Tax Offsets (CTOs) Doubles | Brundtland Consulting

For the second round of GHG Reporting to the DEFF, due 31 March 2021, accuracy and verification – and meeting additional requirements – will be crucial, as SARS and the DEFF are now more equipped than last year to verify emissions.

Emitters can expect more emphasis on validation and verification, as well as further requirements, as the DEFF and SARS get ready for auditing in 2021.

This time round, SARS can do one-on-one checks against an entity’s SAGERS GHG report as the periods are now aligned, and discrepancies can trigger an audit. Emitters now also need to submit more detailed and accurate GHG reports, while also reporting on a facility level, not on an aggregate company level. In addition, data providers will need to show that steps were taken to validate and verify data. Furthermore, the recently-published Technical Guidelines for Validation and Verification of Greenhouse Gas Emissions requires that a “monitoring plan” to be submitted with GHG Reports.

To address these challenges EcoMetrix Africa has created a three-tiered solution encompassing an an Expert Review; Expert Calculation and the EPCAM Online Solution.

1. Expert Review: An expert review of your GHG report before it is submitted to DEFF will ensure the information is accurate, best reflects your operations and does not overestimate the emissions and tax liability.

2. Expert Calculation: An expert calculation involves pre-emptive primary data capture and calculations in a fully optimised manner to ensure accuracy before submission via SAGERS.

3. EPCAM Online Solution: Input your monthly activity data via our secure online software platform that verifies data completeness and accuracy, automatically computes data for seamless GHG and Carbon Tax monitoring and reporting, and keeps records for easy verification of data.
