Amendments to the National GHG Emission Reporting Regulations (NGERs) 2020

The National Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emission Reporting Guidelines (NGERs) were published for the first time in 2017. Essentially, with the aim to guide the process of GHG Reporting to the Department of Environment, Forestry and Fisheries (DEFF). The Amendments to the NGERs, as published in 2020, need to be read in conjunction with this original document. Some important changes include the requirement to report on a facility level, an update of the table with emission generating activities and reporting thresholds as well as an updated link to the Technical Guidelines for Validation and Verification of Greenhouse Gas Emissions. The Technical Guidelines stipulate the independent assessment requirements for the monitoring of emissions. Data providers should take note of these new requirements to ensure compliance.
