National Greenhouse Gas Emission Reporting Regulations 2017

The National Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emission Reporting Regulations (NGERs) were published for the first time in 2017. Essentially, the document aims to guide the process of GHG Reporting to the Department of Environment Forestry and Fisheries (DEFF). To do so, the regulations include a schedule of emission generation activities and reporting thresholds. The NGERs should be read in conjunction with the amendments published on 11 September 2020. This will ensure alignment with the requirements of the carbon tax and online reporting on the South African GHG Emission Reporting System (SAGERS).
