Declaration of Greenhouse Gases as Priority Air Pollutants

The Declaration of Greenhouse Gases as Priority Air Pollutants should be read in conjunction with the National Pollution Prevention Plans Regulations, which prescribes the submission of a pollution prevention plan to government based on certain criteria. As per the regulations, if a company/person performing any of the production processes as listed in Annexure A emits an excess of 0.1 megatonnes annually of the priority air pollutants, they are required to submit a pollution prevention plan for approval by the government. However, the priority pollutants are not specified. This Declaration aims to specify the priority air pollutants, and they are as follows: Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Methane (CH4), Nitrous Oxide (N2O), Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), Perfluorocarbons (PFCs) and Sulphur hexafluoride (SF6).
